Underwater dynamometer

Under Water Dynamometer : An electronic device that measures and registers the actual force that exists where the mooring line is installed.

This operation is done by using a data acquisition device connected to a load cell. This load cell is a sensor which delivers an electrical signal related to the force to which the sensor is subjected. The device has an electronic memory SD-Card that can be extracted and read by any universal memory card reader. The data is in *. Txt format, for easy uploading to any spreadsheet software or word processor. While storing this data, a curve of Resistance (kg) versus time is created, then one can link environmental agents such as wind, tidal currents, acquired by other instruments.

The advantage of using this device is that one can be certain of the value of the workload on the mooring line. With this value it is possible to more accurately estimate the life of the equipment as well as its safety factor.

Net Compacting system

Based on observations of by-products generated by the aquaculture industry, specifically in net transportation to and from the farming sites, we identified an opportunity for improvement, which finally materialized in the preparation of a prototype co-financed with CORFO.

We developed an innovative all-in-one piece of equipment that compacts, performs basic treatment, effluent disinfection, and transports the nets in a container allowing for proper sanitary management, and increased levels of bio-security.

Farming cage systems and sea lion protection

Due to the constant problems facing producers in the salmon industry and specific customer requirements, AEX group is studying, analyzing and developing alternatives to improve existing systems of construction and installation of farming cages and sea lion protection.

As a results of our research in the field, we have realized that there is a need to create protocols and procedural checklists for specific jobs. This is especially necessary in the installation of nets, due to the inherent complexity of the environment where they are installed, taking into account, safe diving limits, handling of huge volumes of nets, kilometers of connection lines, etc.
